Welcome Home
This is Jesus holding one that He loves. We tend to run away from Him or avoid Him, thinking that if we come back to Him (or go to Him for the first time) He’ll look down at us in our sins and we’ll feel ostracized.
These are the fears we face when we don’t understand God and who He is. Throughout our lives, He’s been watching us with a gaze of fierce love while He hopes and He waits for our return back to our home, which is the stronghold of His heart.
Our hearts stir until they know and abide in the fullness of His own. When we run to Him, knowing He doesn’t condemn, but loves instead, we allow Him to finally show us and overcome us with the love that our hearts long for. He embraces us with open arms when we come to Him freely, and welcomes us back home into His heart, the love we were made for.
“You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.”
-St. Augustine of Hippo
